Yesterday marked the start of World Green Building Week a global platform designed to showcase how green building can help solving the world’s most critical environmental, social and economic problems.

The week runs until October 2 and is organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) with input from 74 local Green Building Councils as well as companies from all over the world — including Knauf Insulation.

Vincent Briard, our Head of Sustainability, Products & Buildings says: “At Knauf Insulation we are continuously campaigning to keep sustainability at the heart of political debate around the world while working to pioneer better green building practice. Our forthcoming sustainability report — Insulation Matters — will focus on the key criteria we believe should shape the future of green building.”

"Knauf Insulation is one of the companies really leading the sustainable building debate across Europe, as this latest work evidences" added James Drinkwater, European Regional Director at WorldGBC. "As a founding partner of WorldGBC's European network, their determined work to create the market conditions that allow sustainable leadership to flourish is an inspiring example to others” says James.

The report will be published next month, but an exclusive preview of these criteria can be read here where we discuss how our solutions contribute to cornerstone green building issues such as energy use, water management, acoustic performance as well as indoor air quality and resource efficiency.

We are also helping the market navigate Green Rating Building Systems (GRBS) with ease. We offer downloadable fact sheets here that show — at a glance — how our solutions can contribute points to systems such as LEED and BREEAM and we are continuing to innovate Environmental Product Declarations by creating the first ‘system EPD’ for an Extensive Green Roof System here

Meanwhile, key members of our sustainability teams have been trained in LEED, BREEAM, HQE and DGNB systems to offer insider expertise to specifiers to show how our products can contribute to maximum points. You can read about it here.

“Climate change, resource efficiency, energy use, the circular economy and our environmental commitments to future generations are all contributing to making green building the defining trend of the 21st century,” says Vincent. “At Knauf Insulation we are determined to play a major role in new green building innovations and we are committed to sharing this information with the industry.”
